Wednesday, February 17, 2010Chelsea vs Cardiff City: FA cup, picsWe came. We saw. We outsang the home fans. We put up a bit of a decent fight but were finally overwhelmed. Here?s some pics from Cardiff?s away trip to the Premiership toffs at Chelsea:
Labels: cardiff city, chelsea, FA cup, football Tuesday, December 29, 2009Goodbye Cardiff's Ninian ParkSome photos of Cardiff City's half demolished stadium - a place full of memories for me! Labels: cardiff, cardiff city, football Wednesday, April 22, 2009Charlton Athletic 2 Cardiff City 2Phew! This was a nail-biting game alright! Even though Charlton were already relegated from the Championship and had nothing much to play for, Cardiff failed to match their high-flying league position and had to battle through a very tense 90 minutes, only managing a much needed point at the death. Here's a few photos: I really like Charlton's ground. It may be new(ish) but it's not another hideous metal box like the rest of them.

The game wasn't short on thrills or incident and turned out to be a very physical encounter and a great spectacle to watch. Best of all, the win put the Bluebirds into fourth place so we're still looking good for the play offs (at the very least!).

Cardiff fans aren't angels, but we certainly know how to party!
Here's the view from the terraces after we were thumped 4-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. As the final whistle blew, the Cardiff end erupted to a chorus of "Let's all have a disco!". Arsenal were as silent as ever throughout the game. Labels: cardiff city, football Tuesday, December 30, 2008Cardiff City: View from the Bob Bank
I've stood on these terraces man and boy, but with a soon-come move across the road to a shiny, corporate friendly box, I thought I'd grab a few photos of the Bob Bank at Cardiff City FC.
I was there to see the mighty Cardiff City crush Plymouth Argyle 1-0, on an icy cold late December afternoon. I loved it! Labels: cardiff city, football Link Wednesday, September 17, 2008Cardiff City 0 Bristol City 0 - photos
On Saturday we popped down to Ninian Park for what will probably be our last cross-Severn derby with Bristol City - next season we should have moved across Sloper Road and settled in our shiny new stadium.
I'm going to miss the old Ninian Park though - in particular, I'm going to really miss standing on the terracing, which as far as I'm concerned is how football should always be watched. Such is progress, this will be the last season that I'll be allowed to stand on the terraces. And that's rubbish. Some photos from yesterday's game. We may not have won but the boys did us proud on the pitch, the atmosphere was great and the City fans sang their hearts out.
And who would've thought that we'd ever make it to the Cup Final anyway?! Labels: cardiff city, football, wembley Link Tuesday, April 08, 2008FA Cup semi final: Barnsley 0 Cardiff 1
I've just posted up my photo report of this glorious day. And there's also a short video of delirious Cardiff fans after we scored the winning goal too. Oh yes indeedy!
Snowball fight in Brixton to start the day. Behold! The majesty of Wembley! Check out the full match report by our roving ace reporter Paul Davies here: Barnsley 0 Cardiff 1 Labels: cardiff city, FA cup, photos, wembley Link Sunday, April 06, 2008Cardiff City win!Oh joy! In a tense (and, let's be honest) frankly dull game, the mighty Cardiff City beat Barnsley at Wembley 1-0 to go through to the final of the FA Cup for the first time since 1927. Fantastic! The view was great, but the corporate soundtracks and huge space made it difficult to really get a good atmosphere going. Five minutes after the final whistle and the Barnsley fans have disappeared, A Barnsley fan. Bless 'im. Labels: cardiff city Sunday, March 09, 2008FA Cup: Middlesbrough 0 Cardiff City 2Oh yes indeedy! Thanks to two first half goals by Peter Whittingham and Roger Johnson, the mighty Bluebirds out-hustled, out-skilled and outplayed the Premiership team today. You could almost hear the cash till register notching up every time the Caerphilly-born 17 year old whizzkid Aaron Ramsey got the ball, but this was a great, all-round team performance and a deserved win for City. So we're on out way to Wembley for the semi final. I'll be there! BBC report Labels: cardiff city, football |
