I rather liked this work by the French/Algerian artist Alice Anderson on display at the Riflemaker gallery in London’s West End. Get there at the right time and you’ll see the performers in action too!
Called ‘From Dance to Sculpture,’ the artwork involves up to 20 performers led by Anderson carefully wrapping copper wire around various objects, with the upper gallery displaying the works derived from each performance.
The pieces of plastic on the floor are discarded cotton wire reels. I immediately recognised the drum kit!
Here’s a video of the binding at work.
Camera wound in copper wire.
Completed pieces in the upstairs room.
