Roving reporter Emerald paid a visit to the lavishly restored Midland Hotel this week and her photos reveal a luxurious interior, with sumptuously decorated rooms.
I visited the hotel back in 2003 when the place was near-derelict, so it’s great to see it looking in such good health – even if it’s not for the likes of us (one room goes for £10,000 a night and has been booked continuously since the hotel opened!).
Here’s some of Emerald’s photos:
Emerald comments:
The attention to detail with the restoration is amazing, but let down quite a lot by the inevitable hotel / health and safety ‘furniture’ – mainly signage – and some really dodgy choices of contemporary art / decoration.
