This long-serving traditional Brixton boozer on Coldharbour Lane has been put up for auction on 15th December 2011, priced at £650,000.
The pub – said to be the first Brixton pub to “sell drinks to coloured people” – has been through tough times recently, with several closures and re-openings in the past five years.
Described by mega-property concern Allsop as “A Freehold End of Terrace Building Formerly used as a Public House”, the future looks rather bleak for this property remaining in use as a pub.
I suspect that we’ll be in for another set of lucrative ‘luxury flats’ for the well heeled, with Coldharbour Lane losing yet another community pub.
