Another nail in the coffin of Brixton’s shopping diversity has been hammered home with the opening of the sixth mobile phone shop within 30 metres of the tube station.
This new shop on the premises of the old Footlocker store burnt out in the 2011 disturbances sees mobile network O2 joining Vodafone, Three, T-Mobile, Phones 4U and the Carphone Warehouse in opening phone shops in the middle of Brixton.
Throw in the recent arrivals of Starbucks and the dodgy estate agents Foxtons nearby and Brixton’s main drag now makes for a thoroughly depressing vista, with barely any independent shops to be found.
Welcome to Clone Town Britain, Brixton. 🙁
Surely London must be at Smartphone saturation point. These shops can’t be cheap to run- heat-light-power-staff wages.
Can’t they just give us cheaper calls?
Dont know about cheaper calls but I for one would appreciate a reliable mobile broadband for laptops
Man, do I HATE mobile phones and most mobile phone users-I mean, what has happened to today’s society when people texting and walking at the same time and trying not to bump into people is considered normal these days? (sighs and shakes head)
