Old school Brixtonites will remember it as the Coach and Horses – or even perhaps the IsoBar – but last night saw the long overdue opening of the Living Bar, 433 Coldharbour Lane SW9
Last night’s bash was a bit of a ‘soft launch’ – there’s still a fair bit of decorating to do and there was a very strong whiff of fresh paint in the air – but the bar is expected to open fully next week .
The bar unexpectedly closed at the end of 2007 and apart from a short period where it was ignominiously used as a butchers shop – has lain empty ever since.
The beers were free last night – always a good way for a new pub to introduce itself to the neighbours – and there’s two ‘guest list’ nights coming up this weekend.
When completed, the bar will be on two floors and be open till 4am on weekends. Welcome back, Living Bar!
Fantastic news for late night Brixton. Used to be a great crowd, could be lively but isn’t that what you want on a night out? My favourite floor was upstairs, dark, grindy, excellent. My fondest memories include finding my girlfriend snogging a good female friend whose wedding was approaching. Brixton, keeping it real.
