Tucked away off the main drag of Brixton’s Coldharbour Lane is Cafe Sitifis, a friendly cafe serving up a reasonably-priced selection of meze, hot and cold paninis, cooked and continental breakfasts, patisserie (including cakes to order) and coffee supplied directly from a Colombian producer.
Opened in June last year, the interior mixes North African influences with a modern, contemporary style with benches, seats, sofas and cushions.
We grabbed a veggie meze and mozzarella and tomato panini and the portions were both generous and very tasty – and good value too. The service was friendly and attentive throughout.
The cafe is great for kids – without us even asking, one of the staff came over, dismantled a table to create a large carpeted play area and brought out a big box of toys for the little one to wreak havoc on.
Cafe Sitifis is open every day and can be found at is at 11 Rushcroft Road, Brixton SW2 1JS, close to the Dogstar pub (Tel: 07533 872 804 – map here).
It takes Brixton Pounds, with ten per cent off the bill, and there’s free wi-fi too. Recommended.
