I was briefly in my home town of Cardiff yesterday – here’s some of the scenes I grabbed on my camera…

The £120 million BBC Wales headquarters building in Central Square, directly opposite the station. Ten years ago, this was the site of a large (and rather ugly) bus station.

Looking at the construction work going on near the station.

Cardiff is projected to be one of the UK’s fastest growing cities with 26% population growth over the next 20 years.  The main commercial and cultural center of  Wales, Cardiff has an estimated population of around 475,000, which makes it the 9th largest city in the United Kingdom. []

The scarf sellers were out in force around the city, with the Welsh football team taking on Hungary in a crucial qualifying game for Euro 2020.  Happily, they won 2-0!

The furry lady.

Cakes(s) + coffee.

The traditional Goat Major pub opposite Cardiff Castle.

Another scarf seller plies his wares.

Heading for the bus stop.

The site of the former Monaco cinema in Rhiwbina, which closed in 2003.

Watch out for the thwmpath.

The impressive architecture of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Heol-Y-Deri.

Rhiwbina station late at night. Read about the history of the station here.

Christmas lights and markets around Cardiff.

The Hayes.

Not so festive on Caroline Street.
