Today is the Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Snake, and London is hosting what is claimed to be the largest free celebrations outside of Asia.
If you fancy braving the rain, there’s still plenty going on in central London right now, with free entertainment in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Shaftesbury Avenue and Chinatown until 6pm.
The Mayor’s website says that today’s highlights include acrobatics, martial arts, magic, the Chen Brothers Flying Lion Dance, troupes of visiting artists from China and the rather splendid singer-songwriter Emmy the Great.
