I loved the look of the pub in the preview I posted on Wednesday, and last night I went along to the full opening of the Crown & Anchor, a fab new real ale bar in Brixton.
I arrived late but the place was still really busy, and the ale flowed mightily.
I don’t exactly remember all the brews I ended up drinking, although I do recall that the south London-brewed Kernel was a delight.
Here’s some photos from the evening. I’ll certainly be back for more!
I think I tried rather a lot of these. Too many, some may say 🙂
The bar has a really excellent selection of beers and it’s definitely worth a trip out just to see what’s new.
The only real minus point that some complained about was the noise: with its bare walls, wooden floor and big windows, people can make a right old racket.
It didn’t bother me (aren’t pubs supposed to be loud places?) but I certainly heard one or two grumbles.

I went in last night had a pint of Guardsman in a proper glass tankard. Well looked after & tasty cask ale. Great venue, lovely typically diverse Brixton crowd.
I’m so happy these folk have done the Crown and Anchor up this way, i’m going to have to work harder to afford drinking lots of the amazing beers they offer. Quality does come at a price…
