Situated on Brixton Road (close to JAMM), it’s hard not to miss the brightly coloured exterior of the Cycooldelic Bike Hub.
Tasked with, “Connecting Communities through bicycles and art,” Cycooldelic Revolution describe themselves as a “community bicycle recycling organization that was created for local communities to learn and explore everything about bicycles; from how to ride a bike to bicycle maintenance skills, from making trailers to exploring pedal power technology.”
“Using the arts to explore and express creative ways to relate to the theme of bicycles and sustainable living.”
Launched in June 2009, Cycooldelic Revolution is made up of accredited instructors, artists, workshop facilitators and mechanics, and the project was founded by former members of a Latin American arts collective called Nueva Generacion.
Here’s some more photos from their space in Brixton Road:
Not many bike shops have an iguana on their counter! This splendid example was suitably unimpressed with my camera.
The shop parrot decided to get in on the action. The iguana wasn’t impressed.
Vintage bike shirts in the window.
Cycooldelic can be found on the corner of Brixton Road and Mostyn Road, Brixton SW9.
Be sure to pay them a visit!
