On a gorgeous April Sunday afternoon, we headed up to Brockwell Park for our first picnic of the year.
Easily one of my very favourite parks in London, Brockwell Park has lots of green space, big trees, a few rolling hills, tennis courts, paddling pool, lido, greenhouses and a lovely cafe at its highest point.
It also hosts the Lambeth Country Show, a must-see weekend event that takes place annually in the middle of July. See our Lambeth Country Show photo features here.
Looking north towards London – to the right in the distance you can see the London Eye.
The Bowling Green.
Picnic time!
Canary Wharf in the distance.
The wonderfully eccentric miniature railway that runs parallel to Dulwich Road for about 220 meters, adjacent to the Lido.
Built by Roland Baker, the line first opened on 1st June 2002, and is open Saturday & Sundays from May to September 11am – 5pm (weather permitting), with a trip costing £1.

Next stop: the Herne Hill Velodrome!
I’ve been a couple of times-it’s a lovely park.
