Compared to previous years, the 2012 London Gay Pride event was something of a minimal affair, with the traditional street floats being cancelled as a result of a funding shortfall.
I didn’t make it to the smaller march through central London or the party in Trafalgar Square this year, but was drawn into Soho Square where I had a familiar samba thunder.
Putting on an ad-hoc performance in the busy square were several of my friends from Barking Bateria/Sambatage, who were getting folks dancing along to their persuasive rhythms.
Hearing the band reminded me that I must get them to play the Offline Club again soon!
