Situated on the corner of Coldharbour Lane and Hinton Rd, Loughborough Junction near Brixton, the Green Man was once a fine – if rather run-down – community boozer.
There’s been a Green Man pub on this site since the 1880’s but falling sales and dodgy drug dealing finally did for the pub in 2003.
It remained boarded up and unloved for several years, but a surprisingly sensitive refurb in 20o7 saw the original tiled façade being exposed.
Although it’s highly likely Loughborough Junction will ever get this pub back – and boy, does Loughborough Junction need a pub or two – it’s good to see that the building has been sympathetically restored and not suffered the same awful fate of the nearby Queen pub.
This fine Victorian building is now used for the Lambeth Skills Zone.
