Cruelly banished last year by some pencil-pushing, budget-squeezing killjoys at Lambeth Council, I’m delighted to learn that the Brockwell Park Fireworks Display is back for 2011, ready to thrill locals in Brixton, Herne Hill and surrounding areas.
Even better, the event will be taking place on Guy Fawkes day itself with the council promising “a spectacular show of pyrotechnics.”
The event is free but be advised that it won’t be happening again in 2012.
The spendthrifts at the council have decided that Lambeth residents can only have one fireworks display for the entire borough per year – so last year it was Clapham Common, and next year it’ll be Streatham.
Either way, we’ll be there again, warming whisky in hand, ready to go “ooh” and “aah!” at the fireworks,.
The show starts at 4pm, with the firework display kicking off at 8pm.
