I was back in Paris a few weekends ago, playing a show with The Monochrome Set at the Petit Bain, a floating 45-meter-long floating cultural venue. Here’s some pictures from my brief visit:
Like most major stations in big cities, Gare De Nord isn’t a place you want to hang around for long.
The wonderful Art Nouveau signage on the Paris Metro, designed in the form of plant stems, in which the orange lamp is enclosed by a leaf resembling a sprig of lily of the valley.
The Metro has lots of stairs.
We were staying and playing in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
Classic buildings mingle with modern high-rises in the multicultural 13th arrondissement. The city’s main Chinatown teems with bright Asian groceries and a mixture of upscale and budget Chinese and Vietnamese eateries. France’s main library, the Bibliothèque Nationale François Mitterrand, is set within book-shaped towers. The Quai de la Gare’s hip music clubs, cafes and bars on riverboats draw late-night revelers. Irish artist Conor Harrington created this monumental 30 metre mural on 85, boulevard Vincent-Auriol, in the heart of the XIII district in Paris.

Opened in July 2016, Petit Bain (‘Small Bath’) is a floating barge on the River Seine and contains a concert hall, a canteen, a terrace and a roof garden.
Inside is a fully equipped live venue with a superb PA system.

I arrived in time to watch most of The Last Detail‘s set and it was very enjoyable indeed, with singer Helen Ferguson possessing a beautiful voice.

We went for a post-gig drink with the support band at Le Motel bar at 8 Passage Josset, 75011 Paris.
The next day was wet. Very wet.
