We checked out two preserved steam railway lines on our hols – the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, which took us to the edge of the glorious Lake Windemere, and the diminutive Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, which rattled some seven miles up to a remote terminus at Dalegarth.
