It’s been tragic seeing Brixton’s main shopping drag turn into a long, dull strip of bland corporate retail units, and I’m not holding out a lot of hope for what will be arriving at this last remaining unit in the old Footlocker store.
Wedged between a depressing strip of mobile phone shops (02, Three, Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse) with T-Mobile and Phones4U mere metres away, it’s clear that Brixton has become a Mecca for mobile stores.
That said, I’m not even sure that there’s any more big mobile companies left to move into Brixton – surely we’ve already got the lot?
I guess we’ll have to wait to see who will be moving into the ‘last remaining Prime Shop,’ but I’m pretty sure it won’t be a local independent trader.
Still, at least for now we can amuse ourselves with the cheeky alteration that’s been made to the sign.
