Tonight, I’m DJing at the wonderful Royal Vauxhall Tavern in a fundraiser for Switchboard: the LGBT+ helpline and 10:10 Climate Action – so please come along if you can!
The night will honour the majesty of Prince and pay tribute to the great pop hits of the nineties and beyond.
Kicking off at 7pm, there’s some top notch DJs lined up, with yours truly grappling the knobs and thrusting the sliders (ooo-er) from 8.40pm to 10.20pm.
It’s going to be a whole heap of fun and all the money is going to good causes!
The organisers explained what the night is about:
In our first ever night at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, join us as we celebrate the unbeatable decade that was the nineties and the gift that was Prince, who reminded us to always Party Like It’s 1999!
A series of London’s finest up-and-coming DJs will spin you back to the greatest decade of all as we mark the anniversary of Prince’s birth and celebrate the massive contribution he made to music. Don your purple and satin and dance the night away.
As a volunteer-led organisation, Switchboard, which reaches nearly 20,000 callers a year, must raise £70,000 annually to continue its 365-day a year service.
In an effort to minimise our expenses and our carbon footprint, we have partnered with 10:10 Climate Action to install a series of solar panels at our London HQ.
All ticket sales and money collected on the night will contribute to making this possible.

The charities:
Switchboard – the LGBT+ Helpline provides confidential phone, e-mail and instant messaging services to support people who want to talk about sexuality and gender identity.
The majority of those who call are LGBT+ but you don’t have to identify as LGBT+ to contact us; as a national helpline we talk to people from all across the country.
Switchboard is a confidential, non-directive service – we don’t tell people what to do and we don’t judge; we’re there to listen and support people to make informed decisions for themselves.

10:10 Climate Action – 10:10 runs positive, practical projects focused on tackling climate change at the community level, and turning these local actions into a force for bigger changes. Find out more here https://1010uk.org
