On Sunday 22nd Dec, a benefit night was put on for the Philippines Disaster Appeal at the most excellent Clwb Ifor Bach in Womanby Street, Cardiff.
A large amount of local acts all volunteered their services for free, with some great bands playing on all three floors.
The night raised in excess of £1,000 and special thanks should go to Dan Nichols for his tireless energy in organising the event.
Opening the night was Ellie Makes Music, a powerful young folk singer performing a strong songs which included a lovely rendition of “In the bleak midwinter.”
Rock’n’roll on the top floor.
The massed ranks of Wonderbrass played two brilliant sets on the middle floor.
Compere for the comedy sets.
The somewhat troubling but very funny Fred Ferenczi.
Second set for Wonderbrass.
The ebullient Rusty Shackle who scored maximum points in my book for covering the fabulous ‘Cumberland Gap’ by Lonnie Donegan!
The theatrical Palomino Party produced an intriguing set, mixing up a delightful set of influences like Bowie, Morrissey, Roxy Music and Talking Heads. I loved them!
