Growing up in Cardiff – Britain’s wettest city – I’m very familiar with being endlessly pelted with rain, drizzle and thunderous downpours, and yesterday my home town delivered in full during my brief visit. Here’s some photos:
Queen Street.
But first, a pint at the Church Inn, Llanishen.
St Isan’s Church, Llanishen.
Llanishen station in the rain.
Queen Street.
Bronze statue of a miner, by Robert Thomas, 2005.
A rain-soaked Queen Street.
Royal Arcade.
St Mary Street.
Caroline Street (aka ‘chip alley’).
Towards the station.
Cardiff Central’s delightful ticket hall.
Rainy reflections.
New offices opposite the station.
Tiled platform signs, Cardiff Central (or Cardiff General to older folks).
Waiting for the train to London under the station’s horrible orangey sodium lamps.
