Once again I am indebted to photographer Rob Masterman for allowing me to reproduce this cracking set of archive images of the Coryton branch line in Cardiff, with photos of Birchgrove Halt, Rhiwbina Halt and Coryton Halt.
The above image of Rhiwbina Halt in 1967 is full of period detail, with a GWR ‘Pagoda’ style waiting hut, gas lamps and a diverse range of fashion on show!

hi ed. the third picture down is clearly a terminal, but the path beyond is levelled and passes under a road, as if it too was once a railbed. just commenting, but do you know?
Yes – the railway used to connect to the Taff Vale Railway’s line just south of Treforest station, but they were never allowed to run a through service because of political shenanigans. The section onwards fro Coryton closed in 1931.
The history of the line is detailed here: http://www.urban75.org/railway/cardiff-railway.html
