I finally got around to visiting the Harrison pub by Kings Cross last night, with my visit spurred on by a Lost Cavalry acoustic show at the venue’s fortnightly Folkroom night.
The Harrison is located at 28 Harrison Street in Bloomsbury, and there’s a bar upstairs (which also serves food) and an intimate gig area downstairs.
The stage is most certainly on the bijou size, so it’s a venue best suited for folk nights and intimate acoustic shows.
There wasn’t enough room for all six members of the band, so the rhythm section was shunted off-stage to the right. You can just about see them lurking in the darkness.
I’ve long been a fan of the Lost Cavalry and it was great to see them premiere some new material.
I was particularly pleased to see that the new songwriting has become more first-hand personal too – much as I love their tales of wild adventures, buried elephants and polar radio stations, sometimes nothing can beat raw emotions being unleashed on stage!
