Beautifully restored and putting the nearby New Street station to shame is the magnificent Birmingham Moor Street station, situated close to Brum’s famous Bullring shopping centre.
Lucky to escape the brutal Beeching cuts of the 1960s, the station enjoyed a £11m refurbishment in 2002, and now looks absolutely resplendent with the 1930s-style signage and fittings beautifully recreating an authentic Great Western Railway atmosphere.
There’s even a cosmetically restored steam engine on one of the disused platforms.
I only wish all stations had signs this clear!
