Seen from Aldgate, the skeleton of the Walkie Talkie tower at 20 Fenchurch Street can be seen rising into a dramatic London sky.
Costing in excess of a cool £200 million, the tower is designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and will stand 160 m (525 ft) tall and contain 36 storeys upon completion in summer 2014.
Dubbed the ‘Walkie Talkie’ (and also ‘The Pint’) on account of its top heavy appearance, the tower takes the place of a short-lived 25-storey construction by Land Securities, which was only built in 1968.
