Formerly Ivan's retreat (May 2008-September 2009), The Goose (2005-Apr 2008) and before that the Flourmill and Firkin, this large bar had its last hurrah as a decent pub/music venue/club.

Run by the folks behind the Camden Lock Tavern and the New Cross Amersham Arms, the bar was a great place for daytime meetings, with live bands and DJ nights later in the week.

[Sign removed, 31st Jan 2011]

It used to have a late license till 3am on Friday and Saturday nights - we had some fun nights there - although the Sunday pub quiz was an excruciatingly experience hosted by some unbearably spoilt 'wacky' hipster oaf.

Although the bar modelled itself on a mix of the 'Shoreditch' scene and the venerable Dogstar, it proved a welcome addition to Brixton's night life and it was a shame to see it go in January 2011.

The building has now been converted into a shop.
