Lambeth Town Hall clock tower
In 1905, an architectural competition for the new Town Hall attracted 143 entries, with the winning submission coming from two young architects, Mr Septimus Warwick and Mr Herbert Hall.
The foundation stone was laid on the 21st July 1906, and the building was officially opened by King George V and Queen Mary (then Prince and Princess of Wales) on the 29th April, 1908.
The total cost of the building was £48,000
In 2002-2003, an extensive cleaning program brought the tower back to its original glory.
In the foreground, you can see the bust of Sir Henry Tate, looking out over a rum collection of daytime drinkers.
