Street shots, winter 2007.
The old Coldharbour Lane Post Office seems to be undergoing a very, very lengthy conversion.
There's no signs saying what the place is being turned into, but there's been an awful lot of bags filled with rubble coming out of the place. Maybe they're digging a tunnel somewhere?
The old Cooltan squat remains empty and derelict, with just the occasional junkie popping in for a fix.
After the old tyre store was sold, a large six storey development began to spring up in the area bounded by Coldharbour Lane and Valentia Place. Although the building's no looker, construction work started apace throughout the first half of 2006, until the owners went bankrupt. All work has stopped on the site for some months now..
Afro Kinky wigs, Granville Arcade ('Brixton Village').
Brixton Fish Market in decline, Atlantic Road. I'm guessing that this row of buildings are early Victorian. They could certainly use a bit of love.
Despite suffering some fairly brutal alterations by its owners, the old Coach and Horses pub still retains much of its striking facade.
Curious Egyptian-esque detail above the entrance to Reliance Arcade, Electric Lane.
Reliance Arcade east entrance on Electric Lane.
Valentia Place, by Coldharbour Lane.
Housing Corporation development, Rush Common, Brixton Hill.
Look carefully and you can see the a section of an old Victorian sign above the Fridge Bar. I could make out the end part of 'surveyor.'
Crosses on the pavement by SW9 Bar.
Resurfacing the road, Atlantic Road.
Men at work, Atlantic Avenue.
