The weather was fantastic, the company delightful, the stroll relaxing, the pubs welcoming, the ale tasty and just about everything was perfect....apart from the Cardiff City scoreline. 6-0? Eeek! WTF! The eggs are released! More pics coming soon. Labels: london, photos, walk, walks Sunday, January 04, 2009Box Hill walk
Close to the southern outskirts of London, Box Hill stands on the North Downs of Surrey, overlooking Dorking to the south-west.
Named after the box trees on its steep southern and western flanks, Box Hill occupies around 490 hectares of wooded downland and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation. With the New Year's hangovers still hurting, we took a bracing walk around the top of Box Hill: Pile on! I've finished posting up the photos from our fabulous walking holiday in north Wales.
Here's a few of the photos from the report. Check out the rest here. View from where we were staying. Not bad, eh? Most of the urban crew get ready for a walk to Llangollen. Walking over the mountain to Llangollen. Llangollen Railway. We were lucky with the weather except on Sunday afternoon when it pissed down. So we went back to the bunkhouse and got pissed instead! Walking over the Chirk aqueduct. Through the long and very dark tunnel! Heading home along a shorter tunnel.... Link Thursday, November 13, 2008Walking to Llangollen
On the weekend, I stayed with the urban75 walk club massive in a lovely bunkhouse in a remote part of north Wales.
Here's a photo from the walk from Glyn Ceiriog to Llangollen. Full feature coming soon! Sunday, November 25, 2007A weekend's walk in NorfolkJust got back from a walk with the feisty urban75 walk club, this time in north Norfolk. It was f-f-freezing, but a whole load of fun. Here's how not to put on waterproof trousers in a gale force wind: Thursday, June 14, 2007Dartmoor and Devon photosIt's taken me an eternity to post up because I've ended up creating a 14 page, 220 page monster feature, but it's (more or less) finished so I hope you'll like it! It was a chuffin' fantastic holiday - walking over beautiful countryside, drinking delightful ale, battling with torrential conditions and, of course, compulsory dancing on chairs to a triple-play, back to back Wurzels wig out - and I loved every minute of it! Dartmoor photos Labels: dartmoor, photos, urban75, walks Thursday, December 28, 2006Two wintery walks around CardiffDespite the raging hangover, I managed to drag my ale-soaked arse half way up Caerphilly Mountain and across Graig Llanishen for a bracing walk in the freezing mist. I'm really glad that I made the effort too as it was a lovely walk, trudging across deserted fields and dark forests. » Graig Llanishen walk Garth Mountain/ Mynydd Y Garth walk On the 27th, we climbed the equally mist-drenched Garth Mountain, with the rain managing to hold off until the last minute. The mountain has several ancient (4,000 years old!) burial mounds on the top and commands fantastic views all around (when it's not covered in mist, of course). » Garth Mountain/ Mynydd Y Garth walk Cardiff City report The full match report of Tuesday's game is now online: »Cardiff 2 Plymouth Argyle 2 Labels: cardiff, ccfc, photos, wales, walks |
