St Patrick's Day Parade
The parade goes along Piccadilly in the rain

I'd forgotten all about this parade, but after hearing the noise when I came out of Green Park tube, rushed up to photograph the tail end of the procession as it moved towards Piccadilly Circus.
The photos don't do justice to how much the weather turned - one minute it was a pleasantly warm Spring afternoon, the next hailstones were crashing down and the temperature had plummeted! It was freezing!
I'm not sure where transvestite nuns pedalling a large Celtic cross fit in with the St Patrick's Day tradition, but it was fun to watch.
A Celtic cross on wheels.
I'm not sure what the blue shopping trolley's all about but the lady in front was s clearly having fun.
Drummers behind the cross.
People waving bright banners in, err, Guantanamo Bay boiler suits.
Stilt walkers taking a break.
Some sort of two-part unicorn.
I felt sorry for these girls - by now the temperature was freezing and they had to stand about and wait for the rest of the majorettes to catch them up.
The wind was really starting up around about now.
Here comes the rain...
Heading to the party in Trafalgar Square.
Cleaning up the mess.
See: City Parade, New York style!
