Offline presents a rip-roaring Mayday special at the Brixton Albert, with a feast of knee-slapping vaudevillian folk from the upbeat KITCHENER and a blistering set of hip/hop grime from the hotly tipped LADY LYKEZ. As ever, we'll have a full crew of DJs keeping the dance floor swinging till the wee small hours, plus Mayday videos and protest slideshows.
LIVE BANDS:
KITCHENER
Rural/vaudevillian folk outfit packing double basses, squeezeboxes, melodicas, acoustic guitars and "upbeat tunes so catchy you can hang your coat on them."
"Eccentric troubadours" The Guardian
LADY LYKEZ
An exciting young Hip Hop/Grime UK female artist with a rising reputation, Lady Lykez appeared on the London Urban Collective III ATL album ('rough edged grime and hip-hop with often wise and witty wordplay' - DJ magazine) before storming the notorious Club Apache open mic night in Atlanta, USA.
She recently completed an album in Mali, Africa with Akala, Bashy, Kele Le Roc, Silverstone for 'Routes to Rootz' funded by Bigga Fish and she's now back in the UK and ready to showcase her unique sound, "echoing the distinctive UK take of an artist like Dizzee Rascal mixed with the vocal dexterity and off kilter song structures of Missy Elliot."
PLUS:
MULTIMEDIA
Mayday protests from London, video footage, festival footage and more.
PLUS A BULGING BAG OF OF TOP DJS!
We'll also have a full crew of hard-drinking Offline regulars throwing down a selection of ska, punk, reggae, roots, rock'n'roll, new wave, punk, big band, garage rock and more, including:
LDR Serving up a piping hot gumbo of alt-country, bluegrass, rockabilly and western swing, with a side salad of dance-fuelling punk and indie, washed down with a yard of rock.
EDITOR (urban75) Expect an ale-fuelled, fun-packed feast of ska, punk, rock'n'roll, big band and rockabilly in a floor stomping package.
