Offline at the Brixton Prince Albert, 17th October 2008
Anti folk meets garage punk in a big night out with The Shanners and Filthy Pedro.
The wonderful chaos that is Filthy Pedro. Think 'early Happy Mondays meets The Fall' in an anti-folk gig in a brewery. If you get our meaning.
We were delighted to have the fantastic Shanners back. They're a great band.

Map and venue info
A big night of music and surprises, as Anti-Folk pioneers Filthy Pedro square up against spiky garage rockers The Shanners for a live gig showdown, backed by a whole team of beer-swilling DJs.
LIVE BAND
FILTHY PEDRO
The dirtiest lo-fi-DIY-punk-folk artist and pioneers of the UK anti-folk scene, Filthy's anarchic stage shows and tales of Lancaster Bombers, kinky tales of antiquity and being booted out of Angelsey make this a must-see gig.
"A raucous, indeed filthy, songwriter whose tracks fit somewhere between Jeffrey Lewis's mordant wordplay and the beat-up folk of Will Oldham's Palace Brothers" Metro Newspaper
"Author of couplet of the decade: Drinking Jack Daniel's in the bathtub/Making a pact with Beelzebub" Lauren Laverne
"Thoroughly excellent (and a bit odd)" NME
THE SHANNERS
Forged in a Brixton basement and fuelled by Buckfast, exhilarating garage-punkers The Shanners have been kicking up a storm with their crafty, edgy songs blending punk and poetry.
"Melodic growls and jagged rolling riffs signify this swaggering, savage 5 piece. A chunky, spiky sound underpinned by subtle but thumping rhythms" Podshow
A TON OF TOP DJS!
We'll also have a full crew of hard-drinking Offline regulars Including Editor, Sim Kard Suzi (Offline), Dansette45 (Modtown Rockers) and Los Stylus plus special guest DJs laying down a selection of ska, punk, reggae, roots, rock'n'roll, new wave, punk, big band, garage rock and more.
