DETAILS OF THE NIGHT:
The legendary Brixton pub quizmaster comes back to the Albert for a special one-off performance. There will, of course, be PRIZES, but don't expect an easy ride: Mrs M is a notoriously tough taskmaster!
A special, never-to-be-repeated performance of festive singalongs of Christmas songs by a motley assemblage of Brixton musicians.' Expect to see past and present members of the Monochrome Set, Naked Ruby and the No Frills Band onstage. And sleigh bells. Lots of them.
Can you OUT-BONO BONO? Join a BOBSLEIGH OF BRIXTON BONOs and compete for PRIZES!
It's Christmas time, and there's some need to be afraid as the Offline Club will be hosting a competition to find out BRIXTON'S BEST BONO.
The contest will be held at the end of a rousing festive singalong set from Brixton superstar group SLEIGHED, and contestants will be invited on stage to deliver Bono's legendary line from the Band Aid single, 'Feed The World':
"WELL, TONIGHT, THANK GOD IT'S THEM, INSTEAD OF YOU."
Points will be awarded for buttock-clenching sincerity and world-changing levels of earnestness, with bonus points for global-warming torrents of heartfelt emotion and millionaire smugness.
The winner will be awarded a bucket of prizes, with all the Brixton Bonos assembling onstage to join in one last chorus - an event that will surely result in the planet becoming a better place for everyone.
Get to the Albert before 10pm and find the person holding a BONO CLIPBOARD. You will be allocated a number in the BONO QUEUE, and then it's a case of getting up on stage and having your one stab at glory, with the live band backing you.
The crowd (and our judges) will decide who wins the BUCKET OF PRIZES, before all the contestants get back on stage for a MASS BONO CHRISTMAS FEED THE WORLD FRENZY. Extra points for sartorial period accuracy.
Nobody goes home empty handed either, with every contestant getting a deluxe, special edition
STELLA BAUBLE for their Christmas tree!
We'll also have a full crew of hard-drinking Offline regulars throwing down a top selection of tunes, including:
EDITOR (urban75)
Expect an ale-fuelled onslaught of ska, punk, rock'n'roll, big band, rockabilly, Mrs Mills & Liberace in a floor stomping party package.
NIPSLA (Falling over studios)
Packing more pop than a Rice Krispies factory, Nipsla's DJ bag is a veritable jumble sale of joy, overflowing with indie, dance, electro and party tunes.
BARON BOBBY BAUHAUS (charcoal soul) More mysterious than Robert Smith's eyeliner bag, Bobby gets dancefloors rocking with quirky, darkside indie-pop and kohl-smudging breakbeats.
Videos and photo slideshows of street photography, punk rock posters and weird shizzle from the internet
The Albert is less than two minutes walk from Brixton station and a few minutes from the Brixton Academy.
Turn left out of the tube station, take the second left down Coldharbour Lane (by the KFC), go past the Prince of Wales and it's the next pub on your left.
