It's not often we get to say this, but we're going Norwegian for our first night at Brixton's Plan B with the fantastic AURORA PLASTIC MONSTER headlining a massive four band bill.
We'll also have a set of frantic, exhilarating crypt-rocking rock'n'roll from DR VAMPIRE, skiffle-punk from the incredible CORPORAL MACHINE AND THE BOMBERS, and the superb PHIL GRISPO'S FAMILY ORCHESTRA warming up the house with some stunning gypsy swing. And it's FREE all night!
We'll also have a team of lively DJs keeping the dance floor jumping with an eclectic party mix of dance, indie, ska, Motown, electro and new wave, plus video projections and original photo slideshows.
Signed to the hip 'Noise... What?! Records' and blasting straight out of Norway, this stunning, charismatic two girl + a boy outfit make wonderful 'dirty rock music,' that we love!
Wild surf'n'grind! Dr Vampire are on the scene, raising hell and raining trashy, surfed up havoc on every innocent bystander in sight. Fuzz is their god, and Rock 'n' Roll is the law they live by. They're also the inventors of the latest dance craze not sweeping the nation - the Wolfman Stomp! Featuring twanging guitar, throbbing organ, pounding drums, and grinding bass - now with added insane vocals!!!
CORPORAL MACHINE AND THE BOMBERS
Expect onstage chaos with the Bombers' tuba-parping euphonic skiffle-punk mixing up Madness, Chas'n'Dave and Jeffrey Lewis.
PHIL GRISPO'S FAMILY ORCHESTRA
Learning his craft directly from Parisian gypsy's, band leader Phil Grispo has formed an ensemble of world class instrumentalists playing a mixture of Gypsy swing and Waltz.
"There really is nobody like Grispo on the Planet today" Humphrey Lyttlelton (BBC Radio 2)
MULTIMEDIA
Original photos, old footage, pop 45 sleeves, and more.
DJS!
We'll also have a full crew of hard-drinking Offline regulars throwing down a top selection of tunes, including:
EDITOR (urban75)
An ale-fuelled onslaught of ska, punk, rock'n'roll, big band, rockabilly, Mrs Mills & Liberace in a floor stomping package proving that drinking'n'DJing can be a perilous trade.
MS. LOPEZ (The Actionettes)
A glorious celebration of 50s, 60s, Motown and obscure dance tunes from the Actionettes' very own Glamour Queen of Vintage Vinyl.
BARON BOBBY BAUHAUS (charcoal soul)
More mysterious than Robert Smith's eyeliner bag, Bobby gets dancefloors rocking with quirky, darkside indie-pop and kohl-smudging breakbeats.
