LIVE BANDS:
THE VOODOO TROMBONE QUARTET
Crowd delighting veterans of UK festivals like Bestival, Glastonbury, Pussy Parlure, Lost Vagueness and more, this hotwired eight piece thrown down a crazy mix of ska 45s, lounge and exotica, mixed up with a cheeky sense of humour and floor-filling contemporary dance beats.
"A superb collection of lounge-funk-ska tunes you'd be mad not to like" Amazon
"Fez-topped musicians making joyful whoopee with brass and guitars... tight, bouncy happiness with occasional skank.... stomping good fun to open the festival " PlayLouder
ANCHORSONG A hugely innovative solo project of Masaaki Yoshida from Tokyo, tracks are assembled live on stage using an Akai sampler and KORG Triton. Anchorsong has already proved an internet sensation, with his YouTube videos attracting over 100,000 views and being described by musicthing.com as the 'greatest Beat Making videos ever!'. It's unmissable stuff!
ATOMIC SUPLEX
Already huge in Japan, this loud, trashy rock'n'roll band serve up ample portions of bone-crunching, rivet-removing punk.
"Not so much a sonic cathedral as a sonic corrugated iron shed" Time out
"Atomic Suplex dispense with the formalities (read: the tune) altogether, preferring to unleash one and a half minutes of pure offensive distortion. [They are] a rare thing of beauty and deserve your ass for dinner" Artrocker
In the back room: VIC LAMBRUSCO'S CABARET HOUR 'Abrasive political comedy' - Time Out
Comic piquancy - Independent With a full line up of comedians, wags, poets and wordsmiths including:
PAUL BIRTILL
"Paul Birtill's rough, tough poems reflect the terrifying ordeal of physical and metaphysical life in British cities with uncompromising humour and unimposing insight. The critic Michael Horovitz, even suggested that Birtill's poems ought to be issued to patients in hospitals instead of pills or medicine."
A Week is a Long Time in Drinking
Lost my job, Lost my wife, Lost my wallet, Lost my licence, Lost my sanity and got my head kicked in.
When most people are ill they get flowers, alcoholics get black eyes.
