Austerlitz Column & streetlamps

Situated in the courtyard outside the Ministry of Defence on Place Vendome is the impressive Austerlitz Column (also known as Colonne de la Grande Armée).

The column was built from melted down cannons that Napoleon captured after the battle of Austerlitz.

We were lucky enough to be allowed to walk to the top, via a very, very small and windy spiral staircase.
