Palace Pier amusement arcade
One of the last piers to be constructed in England, the Palace Pier has enjoyed a charmed life compared to its derelict neighbour, the West Pier.
Opening in 1899, the original (and more attractive) oriental theatre was damaged in 1973 after a barge brook loose of its moorings, and was eventually dismantled two years later.
Despite protests from the theatre trust and other bodies, the location of the dismantled theatre is uncertain.
