Cycle ride to the coast Another photo from one my long bicycle rides to the coast a few summers ago. I used to get up first thing, take a look at the weather, then pick a place on the map and get going. This ride took me down to Brighton, along the beautiful coastline to Lewes for lunch, before stopping off to watch the steam trains cut through the Hampshire countryside at Alton. Thankfully, the ominous clouds never broke and I managed to get home without a September drenching. Trouble is that London is miles away from a decent coastline, so this ride turned out to be a never-to-be-repeated 130 mile trek. My poor old bike started developing all sorts of strange rattles and creaks on the way home and I could hardly walk the next day. But I felt kinda good. Well, after a few beers, anyhow.... all photos©urban75 2003 |
