Royal National Theatre, Southbank I've tried to like this imposing piece of mid-1970s Brutalist architecture, but it still looks like a Russian nuclear power station to me. But a lot of people must like it - it was voted 14th in the Channel 4/English Heritage poll of the '50 best modern buildings in Britain' Just so you know: Coventry Cathedral came first, Liverpool Catholic Cathedral second, the beautiful De la Warr Pavillion, Bexhill third and the Tate Gallery, St Ives fourth.
