Scenes from the streets of NYC
(Photos/words © urban75, 2006/2007)
Here's a selection of photos taken around New York during December, 2006.
All the shots are handheld, and either taken on a Ricoh GR compact or a Nikon D80 dSLR.
At times the weather was freezing, so I reckon I lost a few shots due to shivering!
Taxi ride into Manhattan from JFK. The fare is fixed at $45 - make sure you don't pay any more (although you may have to pay a tunnel toll).
Looking over the East River towards Queens.
Roadworks on First Avenue on the upper east side.
Neon shop sign of C. O. Bigelow Drugs Store on Sixth Avenue in the West Village, which claims to tbe the 'Oldest Apothecary in America.'
Union Square at night.
Waverly Restaurant, a no-nonsense, no frills, cheap'n'cheerful diner at 385 6th Ave, between Waverly Place and 8th Street. Don't expect fast service, but it's full of character!
Two people passing on E 11th Street.
West Broadway by Spring Street.
Empire State from W Houston.
Chrystie Street, Lower East Side.
Allen Street, Lower East Side.
Flatiron building.
Second Avenue scene.
Hot Bagels Deli. You'll never be found wanting in New York if you like bagels!
A dazzling array of office lights and shiny cars on Park Avenue.
Billboards on Houston.
The cube on Astor Place gets a spin. Find out more about the thing here: Astor Place cube
Washington Square at night. See 360º panorama
Steam and passing cab, upper east side.
