Grand Central Terminal This beautiful 1913 building was built on the site of the 1869 Grand Central Depot. Construction was a massive undertaking involving the demolition of 200 buildings, with the new terminal needing 30,000 tons of steel (three times more than that in the Eiffel Tower!).
