This 150 year-old building is one of several currently threatened with demolition as part of the Cooper Square Urban Renewal Plan.

During its long history it's served as an disreputable saloon, a hotel, a refuge for returning WW1/2 soldiers from WW1 and from the 60s, artists' studios.
