Chrysler Building Built in 1930, this beautiful Art Deco landmark towers some 1,046 ft (319 m) over Manhattan. Considered by many high-rise aficionados to be the world's quintessential skyscraper design, the gargoyles depict Chrysler car ornaments and the spire is modeled on a radiator grille. Incidentally, this was the first time I'd ever had a camera with a zoom lens in New York, so I was finally able to grab this picture! [November 2004] please donate! copyright/licensing |
