The Runcible Spoon, Rye Now named after the 'Runcible Spoon' invented in an Edward Lear poem, this Grade II listed building dates from the early 1800's and is located in Cinque Port Street ( formerly the old Rope Walk). This stretch of road, running alongside the partly existing town wall, was once used to twist and make the ropes for fishing and agricultural purposes. [Feb 2005] please donate! copyright/licensing |
