St Nicholas Chapel, St. Ives

This part of Cornwall has a long history of smuggling - there's records dating back to 1598 documenting the smuggling of earthen pots, muscatel wine and salt, used for the curing of pilchards.

This vantage point on St Island's Head was used by 'Preventive Men' to watch out for smugglers.
