Teignmouth Grand Pier Travellers can snatch a brief glimpse of the 1865 pier and beach at Teignmouth before the train heads west inland. In 1870 a Brummie known as Arthur ‘Ryde’ Denby bought the pier for £1,100 with the intention of moving the entire structure to nearby Paignton. The daft plan was eventually abandoned and the Victorian pier remains intact. [August 2005] please donate! copyright/licensing |
