Rhiwbina Halt, Coryton branch Another photo of the small suburban single track station in north Cardiff. This view is looking east, towards Birchgrove station. Opened for freight in 1909 (passenger services started in 1911), Cardiff Railway's hopes to tap lucrative coal traffic from the valleys were dashed by the ever-litigatious Taff Vale Railway, who blocked all plans to run through traffic. The northern section of the line to Treforest finally closed in 1953. » See 360º panorama » Rhiwbina Halt feature [Aug 2003] please donate! copyright/licensing |
