Twmpath Castle, Rhiwbina This heavily overgrown mound marks the site if a medieval motte and bailey castle in north Cardiff. It still stands around 6.40 metres high, and local legend claims that it was a 1089 burial mound for Iestyn ap Gwrgan, the last Welsh king of Glamorgan. In 2002, local residents successfully fought off developers trying to build on the surrounding land. [Dec 2003] please donate! copyright/licensing |
