Cannon St/Southwark Bridges

Taken on a warm September afternoon, this south side river view is dominated by the rather ugly Cannon Street railway bridge.

Built in 1863-6 as Alexandra Bridge (after Alexandra of Denmark, wife of the future Edward V11), Cannon Street bridge was widened in 1893 and strengthened in 1981, when its architectural decoration was removed.
