Williamsburg Bridge

Opening on December 19, 1903, the Williamsburg Bridge was the world's longest suspension bridge until the 1920s.

It's 1,600-foot-long main suspension span was just four and one-half feet longer than the previous record holder, the nearby Brooklyn Bridge.
